Indications for transvaginal echo-guided puncture.
The ambulatory ultrasound transvaginal puncture and drainage technique is useful for:
-
obtaining a sample for pathological (cytology and biopsy) and microbiological (culture material) diagnosis
-
treatment of pelvic lesions (drainage)
It can be used in cases of:
-
women with a history of previous oncological processes to rule out recurrence or progression of the disease
-
diagnosis of lesions not accessible to gynecological exploration (vaginal vault, myometrium or cervix)
-
early histologic diagnosis in cases of advanced peritoneal carcinomatosis or ovarian carcinoma, facilitating the introduction of personalized neoadjuvant chemotherapy for the patient without requiring initial surgery
