Indications for transvaginal echo-guided puncture.

The ambulatory ultrasound transvaginal puncture and drainage technique is useful for:
  • -

    obtaining a sample for pathological (cytology and biopsy) and microbiological (culture material) diagnosis

  • -

    treatment of pelvic lesions (drainage)

It can be used in cases of:
  • -

    women with a history of previous oncological processes to rule out recurrence or progression of the disease

  • -

    diagnosis of lesions not accessible to gynecological exploration (vaginal vault, myometrium or cervix)

  • -

    early histologic diagnosis in cases of advanced peritoneal carcinomatosis or ovarian carcinoma, facilitating the introduction of personalized neoadjuvant chemotherapy for the patient without requiring initial surgery
