Higher SHAP values are associated with an increase in the risk of the outcome and vice-versa. For example, increasing age (x-axis in the top left graph), gradually increases the risk of predicted ICU mortality up to around 80 years. Beyond this value, the risk remains high. These results pertain to the model derived on the overall European cohort and validated externally on the non-European cohort. Values of FiO2 are expressed in percentages and PaO2 in mmHg, while leucocytes and thrombocytes are in million per microliter (x 109/μL).
