Wives (p<0.001) but not husbands (p=0.26) had greater negative emotion after the discussions if couples used more negative behaviors compared to fewer negative behaviors. Wves’ negative emotion was also greater than husbands’ in couples using more negative behaviors (p=0.04). Error bars are ±1 standard error.
