Spores of the wild type and different mutants (top panel) were seeded into 100μl of sDMEM. The same strains were grown in sDMEM supplemented with 10% NRS (second row). The same conditions or supplemented with 0.75% HCO₃^- were applied in the presence of 10% CO₂ (lower three rows) for 24h. Capsule was imaged by India ink negative staining (capsule presence forms a typical bright outer layer).
