A) Conventional CARs directly bind tumor antigens with a tumor-specific scFv recognition domain. Second-generation conventional CARs contain both a CD3ΞΆ and a costimulatory domain. B) Adapter CARs bind to and direct adapter molecules to recognize tumor antigen. The adapter molecule is required for T cell cytotoxicity.
