Participants	Number of participants: 277,401 Diabetes type: T2D Inclusion criteria: insured patients aged ≥ 18 yrs; newly diagnosed T2D; continuous enrolment for 12 months without a diabetes diagnosis or any diabetes medication use Exclusion criteria: concurrent pregnancy; gestational diabetes; T1D; use of an insulin pump; diagnosis of diabetic eye disease prior to the diagnosis of diabetes
