Formation of millimeter-scale 3D tissue architectures by molding monodisperse cell beads: cell beads are prepared by culturing cells over the surface of collagen gel beads; cell beads are stacked into the designed silicone mold to form 3D tissues; during culture, cells migrate and grow within the collagen gel beads and finally form the 3D tissues, that are released from the mold.
