Viability L. plantarum expressed as a percentage respective to time 0. (A) The serum formulation SkinDuoTM was reconstituted with sterile water and tested for stability as CFU/mL (in percentage) at times 0, 8 h, 48 h, 72 h, 96 h, 120 h, 1 week, 2 week and 3 weeks, and compared to time 0. The viability was maintained over 1 week, except after 24 h and after 2 and 3 weeks. (B) The formulation was stored at RT and tested for viability with a qPCR (live dye)—Propidium monoazide (PMA) method, after 24 h, 48 h, 72 h and 1 week. For each condition the ratio of the average CFU/reaction value for PMA-qPCR samples over the average CFU/reaction value for total live bacteria was calculated as a ratio of live bacteria for each condition tested. The percentage change of viability was compared to time 0. Dashed lines represent 50% from time 0.
