Molecular representation of ALDH2 after renal ischemia–reperfusion. After IR, renal tubular epithelial cells inhibit the activity of ALDH2 through oxidative stress, thereby promoting the phosphorylation of IκBα, leading to the increased phosphorylation of NF-κB and its entry into the nucleus, leading to the increased expression of various inflammatory factors including IL-17C, and finally leading to cell death.
