The C5–C6 double bond in uracil and cytosine (blue) can undergo a photocycloaddition. The exocyclic amines (orange) can react with aldehydes to form an imine or aminal. The N7 position of guanine (green) can be alkylated as well as the N1 of adenine and N3 of cytosine (pink).
