TSB tryptic soy broth, TSBYE tryptic soy broth supplemented with 0.6% yeast extract.

aGM (Gr.− strains) denotes the geometric mean of MIC values from all Gram-negative strains.

bGM (Gr.+ strains) denotes the geometric mean of MIC values from all Gram-positive strains.

cMHC is the minimum concentration that caused 10% hemolysis of human red blood cells (hRBC). When no 10% hemolysis, as well as > 10% hemolysis, were observed at 250 µg/ml and 0.98 µg/ml, values of 500 µg/ml and 0.49 µg/ml were used to calculate the therapeutic index, respectively.

dTherapeutic index (Gr.− strains) is the ratio of the MHC to the geometric mean of MICs from Gram-negative strains.

eTherapeutic index (Gr.+ strains) is the ratio of the MHC to the geometric mean of MICs from all Gram-positive strains.
