Nsub is the average number of subchains per cell, Nmag corresponds to the average number of magnetosomes per subchain, and D and σ are the average size and standard deviation of the magnetosomes, respectively, as obtained from the size distribution histograms. Around 200–250 magnetosomes were analyzed in this study.
