The subsequent images track the axonal tufts of the two neurons. That of DAN-c1 persists as a cohesive tuft associated with the mushroom bodies while OAN-e1 tufts retract from the mushroom bodies form a diffuse arbor over the superior medial protocerebrum. The adult image shows an example of flip-switch-induced expression of red fluorescent protein (RFP) in the adult. Two adult neurons were found in flip-out samples of this line: the above cell interpreted as the adult version of OAN-e1 and the adult version of DAN-c1 as confirmed by a second, clean DAN-c1 line (
