A composite event comprises at least 1 of the following complications: postoperative extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, postoperative intra-aortic balloon pump use, in-hospital death, rescue pulmonary balloon plasty, prolonged ventilation, tracheostomy, deep sternal wound infection, cerebral infarction and prolonged stay in the intensive care unit.
