Students initiated a total of 7.63 (SD = 9.70) initiations on average during the 12-minute sample. “Observed” refers to the percentage of cases that the specific function was observed within the sampled time (1 or more instances). For example, 26% of the children initiated to protest at least 1 time within the sample, 50% initiated to request, 18% initiated a social routine, etc.
