qPCR results demonstrate significant activation of endogenous Wnt target genes MYC (A) and EPAS1 (B), by 4uM BMAA and a transfected Wnt3a expression plasmid, pcDNA Wnt3a (rWnt3a). Cells were cultured under normal growth conditions and RNA collected 24 hours following Wnt3a transfection or treatment with BMAA. Activation of Wnt target genes by BMAA was inhibited by the canonical Wnt pathway inhibitor XAV-939 (XAV). Results indicate average fold expression levels of mRNA relative to Beta actin mRNA expression and represent the average of at least three experiments conducted in triplicate.
