Effect of ultraviolet light on biliverdin absorption properties. Exposure of biliverdin to 254 nm light causes a loss of absorption at the wavelength. Similarly, exposure to 366 nm light photo transforms the molecule into a species with lower absorption at 366 nm. The rate and quantity of loss are comparable.
