Flowchart representation of GABRIEL continuity/gap rule algorithm. The continuity/gap algorithm, which finds continuities in an ordered set of gene expression profiles. Starting with the first gene on the sorted list, the rule sequentially evaluates the correlation coefficient between expression of each gene and expression of its succeeding gene in the ordered set. Continuities containing genes whose correlation exceeds a specified threshold are selected sequentially until a gap greater in length than the specified value terminates the continuity.
