Application of the rule explanation function (REF) to interpret the disparate groupings make by the I/E response pattern-based rule vs. the results from Jun B proband-based rule. Seventeen of 21 genes found by junB proband-based rule (Fig. 7) did not satisfy the I/E pattern-based rule (Fig. 3). The user was advised by the REF of GABRIEL that expression of these 17 genes was sustained at a high level after 6 hr and thus did not satisfy the parameters specified for I/E pattern-based rule.
