Spontaneous and MMS-induced mutations in the l cII gene identified from wild-type and ß-pol null MEFs. The sequence from upper left to lower right represents the coding region of the l cII gene, i.e., 294 bp. The letters above and below a cII gene sequence base indicate the number and base of detected mutations. Mutations shown above the cII gene sequence were detected in wild-type cells, whereas those below the sequence were detected in ß-pol null cells. Lowercase letters correspond to spontaneous mutations whereas uppercase letters correspond to MMS-induced mutations.
