The overexpressed peptide-MHC class II complexes are responsible for the observed differences in self-MHC reactivity of CD4 T cells. Proliferative responses of splenocytes from EaIi+/H-2M0 [Ea ´ CLIP (class II-associated invariant chain peptide)] mice treated with YAe, a 1:1 mixture of 15G4 and 30-2 antibodies, or normal mouse IgG as a control. Splenic T cells were stimulated with irradiated syngeneic splenocytes (open bars) or C57BL/6 splenocytes (closed bars). Cultures were incubated for 96 h. Proliferation was measured by [3H]thymidine incorporation during the last 24 h of culture. The data are presented as the mean cpm of triplicate cultures.
