GSK3 inhibition by lithium induces IL-2 production by T cells treated with aCD3 beads. T cells were isolated as described in Materials and Methods and cultured at 2 ´ 106/ml. Indicated samples were pretreated with 10 mM lithium or 24 nM FK506 for 15 min. Cells were then mock-stimulated or stimulated with aCD3 or aCD3/aCD28 beads for 6 or 12 h. The concentration of IL-2 in the supernatant was measured by using a luminescence-based IL-2 ELISA (R & D Systems).
