Supporting Figure 11

Fig. 11.

Effect of stationary phase on uptake behavior. Representative images for uptake of Cy5-lysozyme into SP Sepharose (AC), SP 650 C (DF), SP 550 C (GI), and SP Spherodex (J), and FITC-lysozyme uptake into SP Spherodex (K), for a single time during each uptake experiment (×63, 1.2 numerical aperture water objective). The ionic strength increases from left to right for each particle type. The particle radius is given in the upper right corner, and the uptake time is given in the lower left corner. The ionic strength (mM) is in the lower right corner. Lysozyme solution concentrations were ≈2 mg/ml. Only the first two materials show the transition from sharp concentration fronts, through the overshoot, to diffuse concentration profiles.
