Protein sequence alignment. The deduced amino acid sequences of the moe1 genes from humans, nematodes (Caenorhabditis elegans), and fission yeast were aligned by the CLUSTAL X program. The amino acid residues are shown in single-letter code. Residues that are identical between two or more sequences are shaded. The identity in amino acid sequence between any two moe1 genes is approximately 50%. These and other data shown in the paper demonstrate that the function of moe1 genes has been highly conserved.
