IC50 for the inhibition of RBC invasion. Dose–response curves for invasion inhibition were generated for peptides 5C (A) and 6A (B) by using the [3H]hypoxanthine uptake assay. Five to six different peptide concentrations ranging from 50 m M to 1 mM were used. The assay was independently repeated three times for both peptides. Data from each assay were analyzed and plotted separately by using grafit as shown. IC50 (50% inhibition of RBC invasion) for each peptide was expressed as the mean (±SD) of three independent estimations. IC50 (5C) = 455 ± 159 mM; IC50 (6A) = 279 ±39 m M.
