The schistosome spliced leader (SL) RNA promoter driving luciferase with a 3' untranslated region and polyadenylation signal was introduced into adult schistosomes at 1,800 or 2,000 psi. Worms were assayed for luciferase activity 40 hr after transfection. Bars represent the standard errors for SL RNA promoter (n = 6) and the no promoter construct (n = 3). (Upper) RNA biolistics.
