IMP does not stimulate neutrophils for generation of superoxide anion. Human leukocyte suspension (3.6 ´ 10⁵ cells) was incubated at 37°C for 5 min, after which cytochrome c was added. Within 1 min, fMet-Leu-Phe (fMLP) or IMP was added and incubated for 10 min. Superoxide generation was measured as absorbance at 550 nm and expressed as nmol/10⁶ cells. IMP does not show agonist action on neutrophils for generation of superoxide anions.
