Fig. 4. PAGE performed on a C12-Agn solution. Exciting the gel with 633 nm light (Storm Fluoroimager, Molecular Dynamics) revealed the bright, largely near-IR-emitting band in the inset, which was physically cut out from the gel. The C12-Agn was extracted and mass spectrometry was performed on the recovered material, clearly showing C12 ss-DNA alone (3,407 amu) and bound with both Ag2 (3,620 amu) and Ag3 (3,727 amu). Twenty percent polyacrylamide gel in 0.5´ TBE (Tris/borate/EDTA) buffer solutions were used to run C12:Agn samples for 1.5 days at 60 V in a cold room (4°C).
