IC50 and pIC50 values and corresponding SEMs were derived from the curves shown in Fig. S1 using Prism software (GraphPad). NR, the curve-fitting algorithm did not yield relevant values. The GraphPad software was able to calculate 95% confidence intervals (unpublished data) and from these to calculate the statistical significance of differences between pIC50 values. At the P < 0.05 level, no pIC50 value differed from any other except that (1) PI-103 inhibits the fMLP response significantly less potently than do PIK-90 and -93, and (2) PI-103 inhibits the fMLP response significantly less potently than it inhibits the insulin response.
