The number of gold particles after immunogold labeling with antibodies raised against the indicated protein for each of the three analyzed subcompartments (OM /IBM, CM, and background) are given. The percentage of gold per OM/IBM or CM membrane length is calculated by first subtracting the normalized background determined for each experiment and then by normalizing for membrane length (see Materials and methods).
