Figure S1. Outgrowth of rat E13 commissural neurons on a substrate of TSR1-4 and 6. 40 µg/ml of purified proteins was immobilized onto a nitrocellulose monolayer. The neurons were stained with anti-tubulin III mAb (TUJ-1). For each TUJ-1-positive neuron, the neurite length was measured, or if no neurite was seen, considered to be zero. 100 neurites for each substrate were scored. The percentage of neurons (ordinate) with neurites longer than a given length (in micrometers; abscissa) is presented. Neurons extended neurites on laminin and TSR6 of F-spondin. The TSR1-4 of F-spondin did not promote outgrowth.
