Figure S1. Localization of neural crest-derived cells expressing p75 in the adult skin. Back skin from Sox10^lacZ mice with pelage follicles in anagen phase (A and B) was stained with X-gal solution. Positive cells were localized in nerves (N), in the hair follicle bulge region below the sebaceous gland (SG; arrows; A), and in the bulb containing melanocytes (M; B). The dermal papilla (DP) was X-gal negative. Back skin from both Wnt1-Cre/R26R (C) and Sox10^lacZ (D) mice in telogen phase contained X-gal-positive cells below the sebaceous gland. Bars, 20 µm.
