Glucose elicits similar changes in the cytosolic Ca²⁺ concentration in pancreatic islets of healthy Wistar (Videos 1 and 2) and diabetic GK (Video 3) rats (see Fig. 2). The videos were prepared from subregions of background-corrected F340/F380 ratio image sequences and were subjected to a Gauss filter (mask size: 5 x 5 pixel, σ = 2). Noise was further reduced by 4x temporal binning. The colormap scaling is identical to the scaling used in Fig. 2 (F340/F380 = 0.35-0.7). Glucose (20 mM) was bath applied as indicated at the specific frame in the upper right corner.
