Figure S1. Kinetochore assembly occurs after the activation of Aurora B kinase. Asynchronous X. laevis S3 tissue culture cells were fixed and stained with antibodies to pH3S10 and Zwilch (A) or pH3S10 and Ndc80 (B). In both cases, prophase cells stain positive for pH3S10, whereas the kinetochore proteins Zwilch and Ndc80 do not accumulate at centromeres until prometaphase, after nuclear envelope breakdown.
