Figure S3. Elongation rates are unaltered by eIF4GI depletion. Ribosome half-transit times in the indicated cells were determined as described in Materials and methods. Incorporation of 35S-methionine/cysteine into total protein (top line, PMS ◆) and released completed peptides (bottom line, PRS ▪) was obtained by linear regression analysis. Each time point is presented as the mean ± SD of three experiments. Half-transit times are depicted as the mean time displacement between the two curves for each experiment. Statistical analysis (t test) showed no significant difference between control and eIF4GI-silenced cells (P = 0.31).
