- Figure S1 - Rat carotid arteries 14 days after injury and infection with no virus, AdNull, or AdSmad3 were analysed for the presence of smooth muscle cells (α-SMA+) or macrophages (CD68+). There were no macrophages 14 days after balloon injury in control rats, and this did not change with adenoviral infection.
- Figure S2 - Smad2 immunohistochemistry. Smad2 expression in injured rat carotid arteries was examined with immunohistochemistry. The upper panels show the positive controls with human and rat lung tissue. The lower panels show that Smad2 is neither expressed in control nor injured rat cartoid arteries.
- Figure S3 - Rat smooth muscle cells were infected with control adenovirus or AdSmad3, then treated with TGF-β for 24 hours. Cell lysates were subjected to western blot for p21, cdk2, ckd4, cyclinE and cyclinA. Infection with AdSmad3 and stimulation with TGF-β did not affect expression of any of these cell cycle regulators.
