Files in this Data Supplement:

  • Supplemental Table S1 -
  • Supplemental Figure S1 -

Fig. S1. Sox4 and Sox11 expression in mouse SG. (A-F) In situ hybridization was performed with riboprobes specific for mouse Sox4 (A-C) and Sox11 (D-F) on transverse thoracic-level sections of wild-type embryos caudal to the stellate ganglion at 12.5 (A,D), 14.5 (B,E) and 18.5 (C,F) dpc. Sympathetic chain ganglia are shown. Note the low number of strongly labeled cells in A and F.

  • Supplemental Figure S2 -

Fig. S2. Sox4 and Sox11 expression in chicken SG. (A-O) In situ hybridization was performed with riboprobes specific for chicken Sox4 (A,F,K), Sox11 (B,G,L), Phox2b (C,H,M), Th (D,I,N) and Scg10 (E,J,O) on transverse sections of wild-type embryos at E3 (A-E), E4 (F-J) and E10 (K-O). SG are marked by arrowheads in A,D,E,F and located at comparable positions in B,C,G,H,I,J. Thoracic-level sections (wing bud region) are shown. Qualitatively similar results were obtained at lumbar levels.

  • Supplemental Figure S3 -

Fig. S3. SG marker gene expression in mice with SoxC deficiencies. (A-P) Immunohistochemistry was performed on transverse thoracic-level sections of wild-type (A,E,I,M), Sox4Δ/Δ (B,F,J,N), Sox11lacZ/lacZ (C,G,K,O) and Sox4Δ/Δ; Sox11lacZ/lacZ (dko) (D,H,L,P) embryos caudal to the stellate ganglion at 11.5 dpc using antibodies directed against Phox2b (A-D), Phox2a (E-H), Th (I-L) and Tubb3 (M-P).
