Originally trained as a protein biochemist, I have long been interested in the interface of chemistry and biology. Initially focused on mechanism of action studies of biologically active natural products, my lab has more recently investigated new approaches to target the âundruggable proteomeâ using small molecules. Given the âactive-site centricâ focus of many drug development efforts, our goal is to be able to control intracellular protein function irrespective of the class of protein targeted. These studies will hopefully lead to new bioactive research probes as well as impact current drug development strategy.
