Edited clustal alignment of chordate Dlx amino acid sequences. Independent multiple alignments for each of the gnathostome Dlx clades identified by Stock et al. [Stock, D. W., Ellies, D. L., Zhao, Z., Ekker, M., Ruddle, F. H. & Weiss, K. M. (1996) Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA 93, 1085810863] were aligned into a with the lamprey Dlx sequences and the amphioxus Dll sequence by using the profile alignment feature of CLUSTAL X. This global alignment was manually edited to remove regions with no clear sequence similarities to produce this edited alignment consisting of the entire homeodomain region plus approximately 110 amino-terminal residues and 60 carboxyl-terminal residues of each protein.
