The dopamine transporter (DAT) knockdown mice do not display growth retardation. (A) Postnatal body weights at different ages. Wild-type and DAT knockdown mice, both males and females in five different age groups, were weighed (n = 4–6). No difference was found between genotypes (P = 0.16). Males have a significantly higher body weight than females in both genotypes (P < 0.0001). (B) Litter size. Both genotypes gave birth to an average of six to seven pups per litter. No genotype difference was found (n = 40 for wild type; n = 51 for mutant). (C) Pituitary weight. The pituitary glands of four adult male and four adult female mice (age 5 months) of each genotype were dissected and weighed. No genotype or sex difference was found. Error bar represents SEM.
