Computer-generated slices (each 3.8 nm thick) extracted from the tomographic reconstructions (a total of 315 slices) presented in Fig. 1 show the 3.1 ´ 3.2-µm² area that was modeled and analyzed in detail (Movie1.mov). Movie2.mov and Movie3.mov show the tomographic data within the boxed area in Fig.1A presented at higher magnification. Movie3.mov shows how a clathrin-coated budding profile on Golgi cisterna C7 was modeled by defining its membrane contours (bright red) with the software imod. The clathrin lattice is visible on the surface of the budding profile.
