cGMP waves in RFL cells. Fluorescence ratio imaging of two RFL cells during repeated stimulation with 1 mM C-natriuretic peptide, 0.1 mM NONO, and 0.6 mM IBMX in combination or alone. Times and duration of drug administrations are indicated by the appearance of text above the images. The lower right cell shows waves of cGMP proceeding directionally along the axis of the cell (see Fig. 5 for more details), while the upper left cell (and part overlying) shows smaller responses until final saturation of the indicator in both cells with 100 mM 4-CPT-8-cGMP. Time compression: 600-fold.
