Fig. 6. (A) Glutamate iontophoretically applied on mitral cell dendrites revealed the presence of NMDA receptor not blocked by APV. Mitral cells were recorded with saline containing 1.3 mM Mg2+, 1 µM TTX, 20 µM BMI, 100 µM PTX, 100 µM APV, and 10 µM NBQX. (B) Glutamate iontophoretically applied on granule cell soma revealed the presence of NMDA receptor blocked by APV. Voltage-clamp recordings of pharmacologically isolated NMDA current in a granule cell recorded from a slice perfused with saline containing 1.3 mM Mg2+, 1 µM TTX, 20 µM BMI, 100 µM PTX, and 10 µM NBQX (holding potential, -60 mV).
