Fig. 6. Functional MRI-constrained magnetoencephalography statistical parametric maps at posterior (Upper) and anterior (Lower) N1 response latencies in the four subjects who participated in both experiments 2 and 4. These estimates show that the high similarity in the "novel sounds with standards" and "novel sounds without standards" conditions is consistent across the individual subjects, thus supporting the notion that the mismatch negativity response arises through differential adaptation of anterior and posterior N1 sources, rather than being generated by separate, change-specific auditory cortex neurons. Subject 1 is shown in Fig. 4.
