The spatial distribution of this species was roughly represented by the third-order polynomial used in the CCA analysis (40% variation explained), as represented by the parabola in this schematic. The same species was well modeled by the underlying environment (68% of variation explained). Here the spatial structure indicates that adjacent sites with similar environmental conditions contain S. rugosa, but adjacent sites with different environmental conditions do not.
