Positive charge in the n-region of the signal peptide contributes to efficient post-translational translocation of small secretory preproteins
Supporting Information
Positively charged residues in the n-region of signal sequences of the secretory proteins - Analysis of the eukaryotic secretive containing 1877 secretory preproteins showed that 69.3% overall had positive charge in the n-region of SP. The fraction of these secretory preproteins with SP n-region positive charge was found to increase as the polypeptide becomes shorter, reaching ≥ 80% for proteins smaller than 130 residues.
