We remarked about how long the list of seniors graduating in CS is so long.","It was eerie that she had a giant Stanford logo on her head because it made her faceless and generic. What we were talking about also felt like a very generic and slightly superficial interaction, which is expected from a five minute exercise, but the effect was a bit stronger given that she had a giant brand on her face. I felt bad because I quickly thought she was kind of basic and maybe she isn't at all, but I probably will never know and I can't even remember her face to say hi ever again.","I think she was wearing a long sleeve. The long sleeve was definitely dark colored, maybe navy blue.","I think maybe the study has something to do with wanting to interact with someone having a face, since that's important for understanding the other persons emotions and for me at least, to be able to know and identify who they are.","I did a study with cubes in a room, and another study with a puzzle whilist a VR woman was in the same room as me.","If I did, I didn't recognize her at all.",I have no remaining thoughts. 51853oh,101,50,1,A,H,1,1,0,White,M,,,1,5,5,3,3,4,4,2,2,4,4,3,3,3,3,3,4,"talked about school, where he lives, where i live, summer jobs, living situations, friends, etc.","Well it was kind of weird. For the most part, it was just small talk that really wasn't going anywhere, but it was friendly and relaxed. Even with him wearing the headset, I felt like we made somewhat of a connection, but it definitely made it a little more challenging to engage in meaningful conversation when I was unable to make eye contact with him. At times, I feel that I can be a little socially awkward, so he did a decent job at making it a little easier for me. However, he did not really engage in asking me questions or furthering the conversation at times. For the most part, I felt like I had to direct the conversation or keep the conversation flowing to prevent the two of us from just going silent.Overall, the conversation was pretty relaxed and about as fruitful as a conversation with a complete stranger wearing a VR headset could be.","My experience with talking with my partner was a little mixed. Mixed in the sense that at times, it felt pretty easy, but at others, it was a little challenging because not everyday do you have a face to face conversation with someone while not being able to make eye contact with them. It was an average conversation at best, one that did not feel that natural, given the conditions. This experience definitely provided me a challenge in how to converse with someone without being able to read their facial cues, something I tend to rely heavily on, as most people do.","Interestingly, I barely remember what my partner's shirt looked like, and I wasn't even the one with the headset on. I believe it was a dark color, maybe dark green or dark gray. I do not believe it was completely solid, maybe a little faded or somewhat of a pattern.","I think the study was about learning how people interact with each other while one person was wearing a VR headset. I know I pretty much just described what I just did, but more specifically, I think this study was aimed at trying to better understand how VR headsets may influence social interactions, like conversing with someone. I know that because my partner was wearing a headset, conversing with him was a little more challenging, which is quite interesting. The study probably aims to also understand how the partner wearing the headset is impacted during the conversation because of the headset, or whatever virtual visualization is in his view.",I have not had any previous experience.,No,"I think it would be interesting to have the partners switch roles after the first conversation, to see how it could perhaps impact the conversation, and then compare the two interactions afterwards." 51310on,87,44,1,A,N,2,0,1,Black,F,,,2,5,5,3,4,2,5,1,1,5,5,4,4,4,3,5,5,First we talked about my interesting story which was how I had my leg dry needled last week for soccer. She really enjoyed the people and dressed nicely. I talked about how I went to visit my brother for the weekend. He lives in New York and is an undergrad in NYU. We had a lot of chemistry and could potentially become friends.,"It was a great experience but a little awkward. We talked and then were silent as we had already covered the talking points. However, we then started talking about other things and had a good time.",My partner was wearing a flannel shirt that was of a dark blue base with colored stripes. She talked about how she found out what team she would be working on for her job she got in Palo Alto in the tech industry. I talked about my team winning the Pac 12 lacrosse championships. We also talked about her feelings towards graduation and her experience as a CS Major at Stanford. I found out she is from LA and I told her I was from San Diego.,"It was somewhat uncomfortable because she had on a VR headset and I did not, so I was unaware of what she was seeing of me. We also had 5 minutes to talk about a very brief topic so we filled in the remaining time with other conversations. It felt very removed.",My partner was wearing a red Stanford hoodie. I said that I went to ""Bay to Breakers"" in San Francisco, he said he hasn't done anything interesting. We then started talking about school and what year we were, what dorm we were in, etc. We discovered that we are both Computer Science majors, and we spoke a little bit about that. He said that he really enjoyed a lecture that he attended this morning about neural networks. We then spoke about a few classes that we've taken.","My partner maintained eye contact with me the whole time, which was slightly odd. Besides that he was fun to talk to and I enjoyed the experience. I don't know why but I didn't ask him about the headset he was wearing.","Grey shirt with a pocket on it. Inside the pocket were two pens. There was something else in the pocket as well, but I can't remember what it was.",Maybe this was a test about how much eye contact I made with the other person while they had the headset on. It was a pretty memorable week in terms of football for both of us. Both of us had opposite experiences in IM playoff matches as well as in the Champions League final. He seemed to be pretty knowledgeable about the sport. The strange thing for me was that he had goggles that seemed to impair his vision. He was always adjusting his neck so that he could see me better.,It was pretty smooth for a conversation with almost essentially a complete stranger. This was despite the goggles that seemed to obstruct his view significantly. My partner is on the women's soccer team so she mentioned that they had just finished spring training and now she has more free time. I told her that I am a senior and had applied to graduate last month. My partner mentioned that she is a freshman and that she was going home for the summer. I asked her where home was and she said Dallas, Texas. She noted that Stanford does everything late so all her friends have been on summer break for the past 2-3 weeks. We even start late, but she doesn't because the Women's Soccer team comes back for training on August 1st. She had to do that this year as well so she moved in early and had to miss most of NSO for a team trip. Since her season is in the fall, she said that she missed a lot of dorm bonding events too. She said that things worked out alright in the end. She is still friends with most of the folks in her dorm and she says that her team has really good chemistry too. It turns out the Women's Soccer team also had a good season! They won the Pac-12 and the National Championships.","I liked talking to my partner. It took a minute for me to to adjust to her wearing goggles because I can't see her eyes. Once our conversation started flowing it was ok. I felt like she was paying attention to me. I wasn't sure if she would be because I wasn't sure what else the Hololens was showing my partner, so I was pleasantly surprised.",My partner was wearing a black t-shirt. It did not have any obvious patterns or designs.,I think the study was about how socialization is impacted by Augmented reality. Can someone carry on a conversation while wearing AR goggles? How much AR is too distracting perhaps?,I've only had one other AR experience and it was another study here. I was supposed to identify cubes in a room.,No,I don't have any additional thoughts. I do think its interesting that it seemed like we weren't supposed to interact before the study. We were sent to different rooms and came in through different doors. Why was it important that we didn't start talking while we were waiting? 53296en,94,47,0,B,N,2,0,1,White,M,,,6,4,4,2,2,4,4,1,1,5,5,4,4,4,4,4,4,me and my partner started off our conversation with something interesting we encountered in the last month. He told me about his new job in Utah working for Powder and i told him about my personal records in the weight room this week. from there we talked about where we were from and the familiarity with where he lived and vice versa which turned into football conversation and then wrestling. Then my partner talked about how she got her robot for one of her ME classes to work successfully which was exciting for her, and honestly me too because I think that is super cool. That took only like 1 minute in total, and we had 5 minutes to talk. So, she was kinda enough to ask me about my life as I did to her after. She spoke about her studies and her job for next year.","I enjoyed my experience with talking with my partner. She was very friendly and caring. I could tell she is a very intelligent young lady, and was genuinely interesting in what I had to say. It was a pleasant conversation.","It was a white top. Like t-shirt style, and it had some sort of rainbow type thing on it. I remember she was wearing jeans too, high waisted. As well as these really cool, slightly platform espidrill sandals.","I think this study was about social influence and the way we interacted with each other. I'm not sure why she was wearing the goggles, and if they did anything besides show a Stanford ""S"" by my head, but I would be interested in hearing the whole shpeel about what the experimenters wanted to get from the study.",I don't think I really have had any experience in augmented reality. After we exhausted our original prompt, I asked him how his finals were going so he told me about a final project he was working on for CS. I found out that he was a CS major, and I told him I was vacillating between CS and Product Design. After that, we talked about interesting things that happened to us in the past week. I told him about our boat formal.","I would lead the conversation, prompting him with questions that he would respond to and ask me in return. He was easy to talk to and seemed like a good listener. I can tell for sure how focused he was, however, because he was wearing a headset.",David was wearing a purple shirt. It had a collar and buttons.,"I think it had to do with who would pay attention better: someone wearing a headset and someone not wearing a headset. (I don't know what he saw in the headset, so I can't be sure.)",I have done 2 other augmented reality studies... one where I had a conversation with someone's virtual avatar (similar to FaceTime but with an avatar) and one where I found cubes in an augmented reality.,No,I would want to know what my partner saw through the headset.
