(A) Organotypic cortical slices were treated with pH 7.4, 6.0 + vehicle, or 6.0 + 5 μM Go6983 as indicated for 120 min. Neuronal injury was determined by PI stain as described in Methods. (B) pH 6.5 alone did not induce neuronal injury in organotypic cortical slices. (C) Neuronal injury following OGD and pH 6.5 post-incubation in vitro. Cortical slices were subjected for 30 min OGD, changed to medium buffered at pH 6.5 for 3 hr, and examined for neuronal injury 24 hr after OGD. Each circle indicates one slice from a total of 4 (A), 3 (B), or 7 (C) different experiments.
