Despite high diversity in sequence and reaction outcome, all members of the RSS generate 5’-deoxyadenosyl (5’-dA) radical using a conserved [4Fe-4S]-forming motif that binds and reductively liberates Met from SAM47. RadicalSAM.org provides easy access to a genomic enzymology strategy to catalog known enzymatic activities and discover new ones within the RSS.
