The performance of a hearing-impaired (HI) listener on a given input signal is compared to that of a normal-hearing (NH) subject listening to that same signal passed through a hearing-loss (HL) simulation system. PHI stands for the performance of the HI listener and PSIM for the performance of the NH listener through the HL simulator.
